KCWheelers is the cycling club name we have adopted to facilitate  members of Kilmacud Crokes/ KGSC Tennis to take part in organised structured cycling activity in the club.

KCWheelers is fully affiliated to Cycling Ireland. mTo be a member of KCWheelers you just need to have paid a current appropriate annual GAA membership  or Tennis membership, be over 18 and be an annual member of Cycling Ireland. Details are below on how to become a member of cycling Ireland. Currently we have just over 100 cyclists on our KC Wheelers What’s App Group. As you know, we have recently organized the design and purchase of KCWheelers cycling jersey’s, winter jackets, shorts. We will be looking to organize future purchases of additional gear also.

The key priorities for us as a cycling club are – Safety, Health and Wellbeing of our cyclists, Organising cycling trips, growing our cycling membership and having fun. As you may know, one of the key focus areas of the cycling community in Kilmacud Crokes has been the organization and completion of an M2M charity cycle for BCI and the Club every 2 years. This cycle has grown steadily in participation and fund raising terms since it was 1st undertaken in 2012. This was followed by events in 2014, 2016 and 2018. As we know, the pandemic impacted our plans to run the event in 2020 and also a deferred event in 2021. The cycle was complete in 2022 with a record amount of over 220k raised which was split between Breast Cancer Ireland and the Club.

The chairperson role of the KCWheelers Cycling Committee has recenetly transitioned to Linda Tormey. The committee is primarily comprised of folks who have been involved in organising the recent M2M trips and we have mapped out their roles to support the broader agenda of KCWheelers. Committee membership is as follows:

Chair – Linda Tormey
Vice Chair – Hugh Campbell
Safety – Frank Rutlidge
Communications – Ronnie  Murray
Secretary – Open
Finance – Michael  Mullin

We hope you enjoy the cycling activities of KCWheelers in the club. If you have any suggestions or ideas to enhance, develop the cycling activity in the club, feel free to drop us an email at kcwheelers@kilmacudcrokes.com

Wishing all our cyclists safe and fun cycling

Insurance Cover

Membership of Cycling Ireland provides some level of insurance cover. You would still need to rely upon your own health insurance for accidents but it at least provides 3rd party cover.

All Cycling Ireland members have personal accident and public liability insurance by virtue of their membership of Cycling Ireland. This insurance will cover you when you are out training or taking part in approved Cycling Ireland events.

To register with Cycling Ireland:

  1. Open the Cycling Ireland website
  2. Click Login at top right hand corner
  3. Register as a new member by clicking Join Cycling Ireland at the top
  4. Club Affiliation is “Kilmacud Crokes Wheelers” and registration fees are just €40 p.a to include insurance cover.

We would encourage all participants register with “Kilmacud Crokes Wheelers” through Cycling Ireland as it is a certain level of protection and also establishes a leisure cycling club which we would hope will continue for many years. If you are injured or cause damage to a 3rd party (whether they are a Cycling Ireland member or not) whilst out training or at an approved Cycling Ireland event, you will need to fill out an accident and incident report form. Once this is filled in, send it back to the Cycling Ireland office where it will be logged, and then sent on to the insurers. The insurers will then get in touch with you directly about your claim.
