Kilmacud Crokes - Where the Stars of the Future are Born !!!

Body

Cian Manning of Our Ladys' Grove primary school, Goatstown and the Kilmacud Crokes U8's (2008's - Football and Hurling) made his TV debut last Friday on RTE 2's Swipe TV GAA Go Games Challenge episode.  It is not every day your name is read out on a team sheet by Marty Morrissey while wearing the number 8 jersey.

The GAA Go Games Skill Challenges with RTÉ’s Swipe TV aimed to encouraged children (aged 7-12 years) to improve their hurling/camogie and Gaelic football skills, and gave them the chance to play in a televised match with inter-county stars.  The closing date for Entries was May 11th and the game was played on 18th May at Parnell Park.

On his own initiative Cian uploaded video footage of himself executing the specified challenges in both hurling and football. The challenges were outlined and demonstrated by some intercounty GAA stars including Paul Mannion  and are still available to view on http://learning.gaa.ie/gogamesskillchallenges.

Cian's adept Hurling Roll lift demonstration won him selection to play in the Hurling game.   Cian's sister Eabha (U10's Camogie 2006) has a future career in RTE herself based on the quality of her submitted footage and is great to see kids putting smartphones to good use.  The episode is available on the RTE player until the middle of June.  http://www.rte.ie/player/ie/show/swipe-tv-30003271/10578535/.

It is a proud for moment for Cian's family,  his Dad Karl, Mum Margaret  and sister Eabha. Well Done to All.
