Plans for All Ireland Sevens 2009 gather momentum

Plans for this years All Ireland Sevens are developing nicely behind the scenes in Kilmacud Crokes.  This years 37th running of the competition will be staged on Saturday 19th Sept, kindly sponsored once more by O'Neills International.  Invitations are now issuing to all Senior County Champions and to a number of specially invited clubs.

If you would like to nominate your senior club for an invitation this year, or if you have any general queries about the competition, please email the organisers at this address:

News and photos from the 2008 competition can be viewed on our special Sevens web-site which will be updated for 2009 as plans firm up.  You can access this site at any stage by clicking the "All-Ireland 7s" link on the menu (above left).

Meanwhile, as Antrim contest their first Ulster Final in 39 years tomorrow, we extend a special good wish to them.  Their county champions, St Galls, are also our Sevens champs, for the 3rd time!  They provide no fewer than four players to Antrim's starting lineup.  One of these, Terry O'Neill, has been a real star of the championship this year and is  a very familiar face at our Sevens.  So too are the Kavanagh brothers from the Moy club in Tyrone and some others involved tomorrow.  Regardless of the Ulster outcome we hope to see many of you back in Stillorgan come September for what is guaranteed to be another fabulous eve-of-All Ireland GAA occasion!
