Kilmacud Crokes……….………….4-10  St. Vincent’s………...…………..1-11

Although fielding without six regulars, the under-16A’s showed tremendous grit and determination to beat St. Vincent’s in this League play-off in Silverpark on Wednesday 28th June. Some serious questions were asked of the team, especially in the last twenty minutes, but the Crokes boys gave their answer with some excellent defensive performances, particularly from full-back Arthur Lyons and half-backs Niall Mulligan and Brian Hanamy. In attack, Kevin O’Loughlin once again demonstrated his armoury of skills by scoring an impressive 1-6. He was not alone, however, among the forwards to shine, as Jamie O’Sullivan and Naomhán O’Riordáin also took their scores with aplomb and Eoin McArthur showed tremendous pace at corner forward. Although there were eight points between the teams at the finish, this was a very competitive match throughout. In the early stages, young Dorney from St. Vincent’s caused an amount of problems for Crokes. However, once Alan Carr entered the fray, Dortney’s influence waned and Crokes ran out deserving winners on a scoreline of 4-10 to 1-11.

Kilmacud Crokes……………..…..….2-17  Cuala………………..….………..0-7

Played on Thursday 22nd June under ideal conditions in Glenalbyn, this Under-16 Division One League play-off was very close in the first half. Even though Crokes looked in control early on, they lead by only two points (1-6 to 0-7) at the interval after Cuala landed a number of well taken points from frees. In the second half, however, Kilmacud Crokes asserted themselves with excellent displays from Bill O’Carroll, Arthur Lyons and Donal Monnelly in defence and Mark Coughlan and Matthew Kinsella at mid-field. In attack, Chris Cunningham, Kevin O’Loughlin, Barra O’Laighin and Jamie O’Sullivan caused most difficulties for a Cuala defence, which eventually wilted under the pressure.

Kilmacud Crokes:- Barry Mulligan; Gary McMorrow, Arthur Lyons, Dónal Monnelly; Geoff Murphy, Brian Hanamy, Bill O’Carroll; Mark Coughlan (0-4), Matthew Kinsella; Chris Cunningham (2-1), Jamie O’Sullivan, Barra O’Laighin (0-2); Eoin McArthur, Naomhán O’Riordáin (0-3), Kevin O’Loughlin (0-7, 5f).

Subs:- Shane Timmons for Geoff Murphy, Colm Garvey for Eoin McArthur, Seánie McGrath for Naomhán O’Riordáin.
