Report for w/end, 14/15 October 2006

Body

Highlight of the weekend was the fantastic win for the under 16A’s in the Dublin County Championship Final over neighbours Ballyboden St Endas by 1-9 to 1-8.  Crokes led by 1-6 to 0-3 at half time but Boden forced their way back into the game and were a point to the good with nine minutes to go.  Outstanding resilience and character were the foundations for the Crokes fight back with two points from Kevin O’Loughlin sealing victory.  Full_report

Also on Saturday our under 14B’s very gamely went down to Kevins in their championship final played at Silverpark on a 4-9 to 3-7 scoreline following a terrific struggle.  Full_report

The games involving both our adult teams in championship semi finals ended in controversy with our intermediates losing out by one point to championship favourites Round Towers following a scoring recording error (Match_report) and on Sunday the Junior B’s going down 3-16 to 2-15 after extra time in a replay against Scoil Ui Chonnaill having led by a point five minutes into injury time in normal time. Elsewhere there was plenty of action.  On Saturday the under 8’s won 8 of the 10 mini games they played against St Vincents and Erins Isle.  The under 10’s travelled to Kilkenny to play in the O’Loughlins Tournament.  One under 11 team beat St Sylvesters while the other lost to Bray.  On Sunday morning an under strength senior team went down to County Champions Craobh Chiaran in a league match while the under 12’s went to Carrigeen in south Kilkenny to play their first game in the local club’s all weather Winter league and were just shaded by Waterford County Finalists Sacred Heart while the under 13’s lost their league game away to Castleknock

Also this week news reached us of the selection of former Crokes senior hurler Mark McEntee on the Nicky Rackard Cup All Star selection.  Mark now plies his trade with Monaghan.  Well done Mark.
