Scoil San Treasa, Corn Marino 2013

On Monday 29th April Scoil San Treasa Senior hurling team won the Corn Marino in Croke Park, beating St.Mary’s BNS Lucan on a scoreline of 2-11 to 3-7.This Division 2 victory ensures that Scoil San Treasa will compete for the Herald Cup next year.

The game was a tremendous contest. After ten minutes it appeared that Lucan had the upper hand and let by three points. However after a few positional and tactical changes (including playing seven backs and five forwards) SSST worked their way back into the game and at half time led by 1-6 to 1-5.The goal came from Dan Morrissey while the points were scored by Pádraig (3), Dan (2) and Ronan.

The second half was a very tense affair. With eight minutes remaining SST pulled four points clear. However, within sixty seconds the teams were back all square once again. Scoil San Treasa pulled one point clear with a free from the left hand sideline from Pádraig and managed to hold this lead in a frantic final two minutes to win by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of SST 2-11, St.Marys BNS, Lucan 3-7.Second half scorers included Pádraig 1-3, Ronan 0-1 and Jay 0-1.

The Corn Marino was lifted by joint captains Henry and Joe amid joyful celebrations from the parents, children, staff and wider community of the school.
