Stakelum joins the Dubs

Body

R_Stakelum.JPGCongratulations and best wishes to Richard Stakleum on his appointment as selector to the Dublin senior hurling team.  An elegant defender, Richie played a prominent role as a senior hurler for Crokes for several years and was subsequently involved in the management of the team.  In 2007 he managed the minors to a Dublin county championship victory.

Before joining Crokes, Richie played for his native Borrisoleigh, with whom he claimed many honours.  Having won a Munster under 21 medal with Tipperary in 1984, in 1987, Richie was captain of the Tipperary senior hurling team that captured the first Munster title since 1971, famously declaring the “famine is over” as he received the cup.

He will link up with Offaly native and former Crokes senior manager, Vincent Teehan, and Ciaran Hetherton, the former Dublin and Craobh Chiaran player, as part of Anthony Daly’s management team.
