Match Report/ Match Highlights:

Under 14 Hurlers – Secure place in Championship Semifinals

Played on a bright evening Crokes opened brightly with Seanie opening the Crokes tally with a well taken point after 30 seconds, Jamie added another long rang point a minute later and Mark rattled the back of the net two minutes later, five minutes gone and Crokes were well on top.  Seanie grabbed another point in the seventh minute and four minutes two quick goals from Mark and Naomhan virtually killed off the game.  Crokes limited Cuala to a converted free in the first half, while tagging on another goal (Darren) and seven points, two from Jamie, two from Mark, one each from Darren, Naomhan and a converted free from Seanie.  At half time Crokes had a comfortable four goal & ten point to one point lead.

The second half was a tighter affair, both sides were playing fourteen a side as a Cuala player had to go off and they had no subs, Mark was the Crokes player to make way.  Johnny opened the second half with an early goal.  Following a number of substitutions and positional changes Crokes let Cuala back into the game for ten minutes and they scored two goals and two points in that period.  However, Crokes responded well and with two goals from Barry and Jack Whelan and two points from Seanie and Bill, finished the game strongly.  In the end Crokes ran out winners with a 7 – 12 to 2 – 03 scoreline.

Overall, it was a good disciplined performance but a lot of hard work is required before the next outing against Erins Isle over in Finglas.  Although now qualified for the semis, we need to beat Erins Isle to win the group and qualify to play the second placed team from the other group.
