Week Ended 17th March 2008

With several fixtures falling victim to the weather, the games that were played on Saturday 15th March 2008 produced a 100% return.

Seniors v O’Tooles

In conditions that deteriorated as the game progressed, the seniors opened their league account by taking two points from O’Tooles in Silverpark.  Crokes led 2-1 to 0-4 at the break, thanks to goals from Alan Tiernan and impressive debutante, William McEvoy.  It was a credit to both teams that they provided entertaining fare and the second half was keenly contested, with the Crokes full back line in particular impressive, before the home side ran out 2-5 to 0-8 winners.

Team:

MacDara O’hOgain, Adrian Grogan, Dave Mahoney, Willie Ryan, Eoin de Paor, Aodhan de Paor (0-1, f), Damien Byrne, Niall Corcoran, Wiliam McEvoy (1-0), Brian Motherway, James Burke (0-1), Fergus Garvey, Alan Tiernan (1-1), Paul Graham (0-1), Brendan Hoyne.  Subs; N Butler (0-1) for F Garvey (inj) M Dalton for B Hoyne, S Gillen

Intermediates v Good Counsel

The intermediates traveled to Galtymore Road to play Good Counsel and recorded a 4-4 to 1-6 victory with Fergus Mangan netting two of the goals.  Having done most of their scoring in the first half, it was backs to the wall in the second period.  Apart from Mangan, also prominent for Crokes were Richie Sweetnam, Dave Canny, Damien McSweeney and Shane McNicholas, who bagged 1-1 when moved to attack.

U16’s v Na Fianna

In the third match played by the club on the day the under 16’s beat Na Fianna 2-6 to 0-5 in Moibhi Road.  Among Crokes best were the full back line of Brian McHenry, James O'Keeffe and Gary Mellican, Jonathan Healy-Hayes and substitute Alex Pilkington.
