Under 11 Action

Well done to the under 11’s on their triumphant finale to a hectic two days.

On Friday evening they made the journey to Kilkenny for the annual Ballyragget Tournament.  Two good displays were not enough to stop them losing by two points in each of their games against O’Loughlin Gaels and Dicksboro.  Following a late night return they were in action with two teams early on Saturday morning in Moibhi Road in Na Fianna’s D McNulty Tournament.

The first game in the Cup against Dicksboro resulted in a 3-1 all draw.  Crokes then accounted for Naas, 3-2 to 0-1, James Stephens, 9-2 to 0-6 before losing to the hosts, 1-3 to 0-2 and defeating Gorey, 2-6 to 0-2.  This set them up for the final against Dicksboro which the Kilmacud lads won, 1-4 to 0-4, after a titanic struggle.  For a more detailed report, including information on the Shield competition see HERE

PJ Troy Tournament

Also in tournament action on the Northside were the under 13’s who took part in the PJ Troy Tournament in Whitehall.  They emerged as winners of their first group by defeating Castleknock, 5-3 to 3-1 and St Vincents 7-2 to 1-0.  In the second group they went down to Ballyboden, 2-2 to 1-0, and Na Fianna, 2-5 to 1-3.  For report see HERE

U9s and U10s Host Monaleen

While the under 11’s and under 13’s were away the under 9’s and under 10’s hosted Limerick’s Monaleen in Pairc de Burca.  Both games were closely contested and exciting.

Club Representation at Inter County level

It was another week where the club had strong intercounty representation but unfortunately fortune did not favour Dublin.  On Saturday evening Bill O’Carroll, Kevin O’Loughlin and Mark Coughlan played in Dublin’s one point loss to Wexford in the replayed Leinster Minor Championship semi-final.  For report see HERE

On Thursday Ross and Rory O’Carroll played in Dublin’s Leinster under 21 Championship loss to Kilkenny in Parnell Park.  Barry O’Rorke was also on the panel.  For report see HERE

The evening before, in Islandbridge, the Junior C3’s, having their best year for a number of years, played a useful challenge against Civil Service, going down 1-8 to 0-9 while the minors had a convincing win over Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh in the Summer league in Silverpark

More Juvenile Action

Also during the week two under 11 squads played and beat Fingallians in a league fixture postponed from the previous Saturday.

On Tuesday the U13’s took on Ballyboden St Endas in Deerpark. On an evening reminiscent of deepest winter Crokes started strongly but struggled to maintain their dominance after the break. Ballyboden increased the pressure and Crokes were perhaps lucky to run out winners in the end by 4-09 to 4-03. For images of this enthralling encounter click HERE
