Child Protection and Codes of Behaviour

Body

Here in Crokes we are starting as awareness campaign with regard to Club Policies and the responsibilities shared by us all when it comes to Child Protection and Child Welfare issues.

There are three Children's Officers representing the sections:
Ronnie Murray - Coiste (Boys hurling and football to the age of 12) 087 2317255
Niamh Murphy - Camogie 086 3334080
Moira Sheehy - Ladies Football 085 7505805

Anne O'Connor is the Club Children's Officer and "Designated Person".
087 2079845

In the area of Child Protection a number of initiatives are currently underway by the Child Protection Officers which we would hope to have those listedbelow completed by the end of March.

They include:

o Re-visiting our local procedures within the club to ensure they follow the guidelines laid down in the code.
o The first of these are:
o Player code of Behaviour
o Parent code of Behaviour
o Mentors code of Behaviour
o Guidelines with regard to the use of Video and photographic images on Club Websites.

o Publishing these codes now in a uniform way across all the websites so they are easily accessible by members and any revisions can be simply and effectively advised.

o Ensuring that all Coaches, mentors and committee members have been vetted. Maintaining a club list of all those vetted. If you are involved with a team and have not been vetted you can get a form from any of the contacts above.
o Providing awareness of the need for training for our mentors and managers - Courses will be organised where needed, throughout the year and advised by the Child Protection representatives.

It is all of our responsibility to ensure the best practice is implemented in Kilmacud Crokes. If you have a concern you can contact your section or the club Child Protection Officer. Please remember that the majority of breaches of our Code of Behaviour are in fact instances of poor or bad practice and with the co-operation of all concerned, may be rectified and may not occur again.

Every player and parent who registers with Kilmacud will be agreeing to abide by these codes so we are urging you to be aware and read carefully. As each policy is reviewed and updated we will be publishing it on the Websites and making it available to members through their sections.
