Minor League Final - Division 1

Monday 27th April 2015

Kilmacud Crokes 7-13 Templeogue Synge Street 2-13

Played at St. Anne's GAA Club, Bohernabreena

Kilmacud Crokes played with the wind (and the slope) in the first half and opened strongly to lead by 1-2.  However Templeogue struck back and scored an excellent 1-3 to take the lead briefly.  Kilmacud dominated the game for most of the rest of the first half, closing out the first half 4-10 to 1-5 leaders.  During this period Holly Greer, Mia Jennings, Lauren Magee, Julia Buckley, Lauren Bedford and Aoife Kane all drove forward aggressively, creating and taking several chances.

Having turned 14 points down at half time, Templeogue needed to strike quickly and take advantage of the wind and slope in the second half. They did get a couple of quick points but Crokes continued to counter and maintained their advantage.  Three more goals from Crokes in the second half really put the game beyond the reach of a good, competitive Templeogue team. During the second half Hannah Power, Lauren Magee and Muireann O'Gorman played  key roles in absorbing periods of  pressure from Templeogue - and a number of the forwards worked back to provide additional cover.  Up front we saw excellent interplay between Katie Ronan, Caoimhe Fitzgerald, Holly Greer, Mia Jennings and Julia Buckley.

So this final closed out a very successful league campaign for Kilmacud Crokes Minors - winning all four league games, a semifinal against Na Fianna and the final against Templeogue Synge Street.  Looking forward to getting the Minor panel together again in mid August to prepare for the Minor Football Championship in September, to getting a few injured and absent players back into the panel for the Championship and to renewing competition with Templeogue Synge Street and the other Dublin Clubs.

Our scorers; Katie Ronan 2-3, Holly Greer 2-3, Julia Buckley 2-2, Mia Jennings 1-2, Lauren Magee 0-2 and Aoife Kane 0-1
