U8 and U10 Football Blitz in Passage West

Body

On Saturday 9th September, the Kilmacud Crokes girls U8 & U10 competed in a blitz in Passage West. There were over 100 teams from all over the country taking part with Kilmacud Crokes strongly represented in both age groups. In the U8 section, Crokes had 2 teams competing (18 girls) and in the u10 section Crokes had 4 teams competing (48 girls).

The day started off at 11am with a parade led by a bagpiper from the local school to the playing venue. Following the parade, all the teams and specatators stood for the national anthem and then the games began. Each team played 4 games with each game 12 mins long. There was a huge amount of skill, endeavour and teamwork shown by the Crokes girls during the games. The day also provided a great opportunity for new friendships to form not only amongst the girls but also amongst the travelling parents and supporters.

All in all it was a fantastic experience and one which will hopefully live in the memories of those that were involved for many years to come. A huge thanks to Passage West for organising and inviting us to the blitz, the sheer scale of the operation had to be seen to be believed.
