Féile Programme Launch-Big Night in Glenalbyn

The Feile programme was formally launched last night (20 June 2012) at a star studded event in the Club. It represents the next phase in the 2012 Feile effort and the programme will be a treasured momento for years to come.

The one club aspect of Feile, which has been very evident this year, meant that the programme, which runs to 76 pages, includes team pictures, profiles and match reports from across ladies football and camogie and boys hurling and football. The programme also includes many interesting editorial pieces from a variety of contributors as well as details of sponsors for this year.

The event on Wednesday night was attended by over 150 people including the boys and girls who are preparing for their competitive games over the coming weeks.

The centerpiece of the event was a panel discussion facilitated by Marty Morrissey, RTE Sports commentator, which included current stars from GAA and Rugby, Ross and Rory O Carroll, Adrian Morrissey, Niall Corcoran and Leinster Rugby star Ian Madigan.

The discussion focused on their memories of playing at underage levels and at Feile, suggestions on what players and mentors should remember in playing Feile when the games are much shorter and several games to be played over a couple of days, ideas on what they should do in the days running up to Feile as well as additional advice to ensure players are ready for the games. The underlying theme which pervaded the discussion was of making sure to embrace the opportunity to represent the club and to perform to your best, to be proud of the achievements so far and to enjoy the experience of playing with boys and girls who are and will be your good friends now and into the future.

Marty did push the panel for their predictions for this years championships and clearly current champions Dublin and Kilkenny are the favourites but the coming weeks might see some shocks and surprises.

We are deeply indebted to Ross, Rory, Adrian, Niall and Ian for making themselves available and indeed for agreeing to be ambassadors for the various teams over the coming weeks. A sincere thanks to Marty Morrissey also, who took time out of his busy schedule, for his contribution to what was a very special club occasion

A great night and one to live long in the memory
