Kilmacud Crokes launches the 2021 Baker Tilly Global Camogie 7s Challenge

Stillorgan, 18th May 2021

Kilmacud Crokes Camogie today announced the official launch of the 2021 Baker Tilly Global Camogie 7s Challenge. In response to the ongoing public health situation, the annual Kilmacud Crokes Camogie 7s, now in its 48th year, will once again be adapted to allow teams from all over the world to compete in a camogie skills challenge from their own club grounds. Building on a format that proved very successful last year, the competition will take place from 3rd to 11th September 2021. Both adult and juvenile (under 13 and up) teams can enter the event which is free to take part in.

Alma O’Brien, Partner and Head of Tax, Baker Tilly Ireland said: “We are delighted that the Baker Tilly Global Camogie 7s Challenge will take place again this year.  Kilmacud Crokes took a difficult situation and turned it into a positive by creating the first global Camogie tournament series, which celebrates and inspires both Irish and overseas female players from locations such as Australia, Canada and the United States. It is a privilege to continue our support of Kilmacud Crokes; their recently launched Beyond 2020 initiative serves as a further testament to their dedication to promoting greater participation of women in sport. On behalf of everyone at Baker Tilly, we wish the players and clubs the best of luck and we look forward to being part of this exciting event.”

John Fenton, chairperson of the Camogie section in Kilmacud Crokes, added: “One of the highlights of an otherwise challenging last year was seeing the participation of camogie teams from Australia, the USA and Canada as well as Ireland in our 2020 Camogie 7s challenge. We look forward to building on that success and hope to see even more teams from the global camogie community taking part in the 2021 Baker Tilly Global Camogie 7s Challenge. Now in our 48th year, we are delighted to be able to keep the tradition of the Camogie 7s from Kilmacud Crokes going strong and particularly being able to involve so many national and international teams in our competition. Good luck to them all.”
