EGM Update on Parc De Burca Development

Body

Members Update:

A special EGM  of Kilmacud Crokes GAA club was held on Wednesday January 29th in the function room.  The motion before the meeting was “That this general meeting approves the Executive decision to implement Phase 1 of the development of Pairc de Burca involving re-alignment and lighting of the pitch with associated sports capital grant support.”

At the meeting, our club chairman Kevin Foley gave those in attendance an overview and the background of the development program of Parc de Burca and the reason for the EGM. He also covered other development items such as an upgrade to our club gym and the dressing rooms in Silverpark which are planned in the future.  This was followed by a more detailed overview of the Parc de Burca  project and the work proposed by club development officer Joan Kehoe. Joan outlined the phased nature of the project. Phase 1 being  realignment  of the pitch to make it championship size and installing flood lights. Phase 2 will be implementing drainage and levelling of the pitch. Joan’s presentation was supported by JP Ennis of Elemental Sports Design and professional Services. JP has been engaged by the club to manage the development of the pitch. JP also covered the elements and costings of the 2 phased approach.  A number of questions were asked and explanations / answers were given in response.  After discussion and all questions being dispositioned, the motion was proposed by Tom Rock and seconded by Pat Sheridan.   The vote from all who were in attendance was unanimous to proceed with phase 1.  Work on the project will start in mid to late September / early October 2020 with the pitch being unavailable for circa 12 weeks.  A transition plan will be put in place to mitigate the unavailability of Parc De Burca during the development work.

A special note of thanks to Joan Kehoe, Kevin Foley, Tom Rock, John Sweeney, Paddy Walsh, Liam O’ Flaherty and Ronnie Murray for the personal time they are investing in driving this project. This is a generational development project for the club to install flood lights and make the pitch championship size. It will benefit the club for years to come into the future.
