HILL-WALKING KICKSTART GLENALBYN STYLE !!!!!

After very wet expeditions up Maulin and Mullacor for their first two hikes the Kickstart Hillwalking group took on Djouce Mountain from Luggala side for their 3rd outing hoping for better weather. Led by Tom Gallery and Philip Mulligan from the Tennis Club,  there was a great turnout of 22 hardened hikers and despite the dry weather forecast they were hit with a horizontal snow storm and high winds but they soldiered on to the top. There was no hanging around at the top mind, due to the near arctic cold and wind. Further down on the other side of the mountain there was a brief stopover for some refreshments before joining part of the Wicklow Way back to the cars. All in all a 3 hour walk which in the conditions was long enough. It was then back to the Sugarloaf Café at Djouce Golf Club for the much welcomed afters. Not sure where this week’s walk will be as yet as we are monitoring the weather forecast. There will be three more walks each Saturday over the coming weeks and then it will revert to the Tennis club monthly walk. I'm sure the kickstarters will continue with these walks and anyone else who wants to join us is most welcome.
