U13 Teams - A Great Season

Body

U13 -Divisions 1, 3 and 7

The Under 13 teams all enjoyed successful seasons with the KC1 squad finishing top of Division 1 and mid table in Division 3, while the KC3 team took fifth place in Division 7.

A squad of 45 boys started back training with KC1 and the Division One team rattled off three early wins before defeats at the hands of Na Fianna and Skerries Harps sent them into the summer break on eight points from six games.

Another hat trick of wins on the restart including a fine 2-13 to 1-15 victory away to St Sylvesters kept them in the hunt and despite a couple of narrow away defeats, three wins from the final four games against Na Fianna, St. Judes and St. Vincents proved good enough to secure top spot ahead of Skerries Harps, with a points difference of +149 from 14 games.

Meanwhile, the Division Three side faced a series of tough matches mostly against “A” teams but produced five excellent wins in the second half of the season to preserve their status.

The boys battled back really hard after a tough start to the campaign to defeat the likes of eventual winners Parnells A, St. Oliver Plunketts, Round Towers A, and finally St. Brigids in a final day thriller by 5-6 to 2-13.

The Division Seven team had a similar record with good wins against Fingallians (twice), Ballyboden (twice), Clontarf and Cuala good enough to secure a mid-table finish and the boys showed great commitment throughout the season.

Special thanks are due to team managers Donal Keyes who will be staying with the group in a coaching role when available even though Patrick now drops down a year, and to Donal Donovan for all their efforts and also to all of the mentors who helped out throughout the season.

Thanks are also due to the parents for supporting the fundraisers during the year and for bringing the boys to training and matches.

We look forward to an exciting Feile season ahead as under 14s next year.
