GAA President Christy Cooney, fresh from yesterdays riveting Hurling Final, formally launched this years oneills.com Kilmacud All Irl Football Sevens in Croke Park today. He was joined at the top table by Tony Towell (ONeills), Pat Lamb and Pat Fenlon (Kilmacud) along with special guests Larry Tomkins (Cork) and Conor Deegan (Down).

A host of media personnel and Kilmacud officers, players and well-wishers were also present. Quotes from the various speeches are included below. Here are some photos: you can tell that Larry cant quite believe how much the ball has shrunk since his playing days!! Check back later this week for more pics.

In launching the 38th Sevens, Uachtarán ÓCuana said; "The O'Neills Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland Football Sevens event is an integral part of the All-Ireland football weekend and ensures that competitive GAA activity spills over the Liffey into South Dublin where some of the top clubs from around the country battle it out for what is a coveted title.

The event also brings an important social dimension to the weekend as it is a popular port of call for those in Dublin for the weekend, particularly those on the lookout for tickets. There is a massive logistical undertaking involved in this and I laud everyone involved and wish you and the competing teams every success with the 2010 competition."

Mr. Tony Towell, Managing Director of O'Neills, said; "Another year, another action packed weekend of football and festivities, in Kilmacud Crokes. The highest calibre of players and clubs, throughout Ireland will be in attendance, watched by a huge following of dedicated supporters.

It is my greatest pleasure to speak on behalf of O'Neills Irish international sportswear, in saying that our sponsorship of the event is our thanks to the clubs, players and fans, for their continued support of our brand."

Commenting on the event, Pat Lamb Chairman of Kilmacud Crokes Football Committee, said; "We are delighted to once again welcome the cream of footballing talent to Kilmacud Crokes for what promises to be another action packed sevens football tournament.

We would like to thank O'Neills for their continued support as they have wholeheartedly backed this event to make sure it maintains the highest standards. It is hugely exciting to have two greats of Cork and Down GAA in our presence in Larry Tompkins and Conor Deegan and we wish both teams the best of luck.

This competition has gone from strength to strength over the last 38 years, and a special thanks also goes to the GAA for their support, to the media and to TG4 for broadcasting highlights of the games," he concluded.

Games will be broadcast on TG4 on Monday, 20 September 2010.
