Bumper Championship fare this week!
It’s a big week for Championship action for club teams! This Sunday morning sees a Triple header for our Minor Teams. The Minor A’s play last year’s champions St Brigids at 11am in Silver Park in the second match of their round robin group. Both teams won their first round matches so will be keen to retain their unbeaten status. The Minor B’s under Greg O’Brien play Naomh Fionnbarra at the same time and venue. Many players on this team will be hoping to play their way onto the A panel so you can expect a spirited performance here. Meanwhile Mickey Greene’s Minor C’s will play St Peregrine’s in Páirc de Búrca at 11. On Wednesday October 1, the Intermediate team play St. Brigids in Parnell Pk at 7pm in the Semi Final of the Intermediate Championship. This side under 1995 heroes, Peter Ward & Robbie Leahy have been quietly negotiating their way through the various obstacles put in their way. We hope they will emerge victorious after a battle with a strong St. Brigids team who contested the Senior Football Championship last year.
Finally ... Sunday 5th sees our Senior team take on UCD in THE Quarter Final of the Senior Football Championship. Again this game takes place in Parnell Park but has a 4pm throw in. UCD are as usual star studded with Inter County players including Louth’s Shane Lennon and Wexford’s All Star nominee Ciaran Lyng. They have been our bogey team over the last decade so we definitely owe them one. Let’s hope our lads can march on after this game.
Congrats to our Senior Hurlers on their fab 2 point win against Na Fianna (Sat 27th), they are now through to the semi-final.
