Crokes claim 2nd All Ireland title in style

St Patricks Day 2009 will be forever etched in the memories of our latest generation of young footballers.  On a beautiful sunny day, they achieved their long-held goal of landing the Andy Merrigan Cup, thus emulating our ground-breaking 1995 All Ireland winning team.  The final score was 1-9 to Crossmaglen's 0-7 but that's a mere detail.  The Cross men had set the bar for club success over the past decade or so and had never lost a final in Croker.  However, they had no answer to the pace, tenacity and skill of the young Crokes lions who gained the momentum from the start and were never headed.  An early goal from the boot of our own "Daniel Day Lewis", Mark Davoren, was the decisive score of a hard-won game.
