Crokes Loss is Dubs gain!

Congratulations to Paddy O'Donoghue on his appointment as a Dublin football selector tonight.  Paddy has given sterling service to Crokes, and Dublin, in various capacities over many years.  The highlight was probably St Patrick's Day, 1995, when he put in a  'Man of The Match' performance in the club's ground-breaking All Irl win.  Some 13 years later Paddy is still doing the biz for one of our Junior teams and also manages the Minor A football team (ironically pitted against Vincents on Sunday next!).  As if that's not enough, he has been a superb Treasurer of our busy Football Section for many years.  We know he'll do a great job for Pat Gilroy's Dubs, drawing on his astute brain and a substantial drop of Kerry blood in his veins!!

It's fascinating to note that Paddy's club medal in 1995 is well matched by Gilroy's Sam Maguire success in that year, followed by his All Irl club medal with Vinnies this year.  Another selector, Mickey Whelan, managed Vins to this year's club success and previously claimed his own All Irl club medal as a player in 1976 ..... certainly lots of winning experience there which can only help with the major task ahead.  All in Kilmacud wish Paddy, Pat, Mickey and Paul Nugent every success!
