CROKES SIZZLE IN THE SUNDAY SUN!

The word GUBU was coined some years ago to help describe a most bizzare and unbelievable political situation. After todays epic semi-final win against our old adversaries and reigning champions, St. Brigids, we could do with a new descriptor!

Nobody but nobody could have written the script for this game which was played in glorious sunshine in Parnell Park. Our 2 recent games against Ballyboden, followed quickly by the slog in the mud v Sylvesters last Wed, may have accounted for a lack-lustre opening half. Shell-shocked to be 0-7 to 2-9 down at half-time to a fast-moving, formidable Brigids team, few supporters could have anticipated what was to come next. An unbelievable comeback began right from the 2nd half throw-in and Crokes had scored 2-2 without reply inside 5 minutes - back on parity. Untypically, our lads pushed on relentlessly and by the end of the game they had achieved a 14 point turnaround to emerge victors on a scoreline of 2-18 to 2-12!

This game will certainly be talked about for years to come; the video is surely a must for any coach who wants to instill a never-say-die attitude in a team? Meanwhile, Hugh Kennys men wont be basking in the immediate glory for long as they prepare for the County Final v Ballymun Kickhams on Monday next at the same venue - more anon.
