Crokes Under 9 Festival Of Football June 2nd UCD
1 Sam Maguire, 5 visiting clubs, 20 teams, 40 matches, 280 U9 Boys, 1,000 mins of Football and 27,000 sandwiches!
The raw figures alone can’t convey the thrilling festival of sport that was the Crokes U9 Annual Invitational tournament held in UCD on June 2nd.
With rain forecast, the big surprise on the day was the wonderful sunshine; what came as no surprise were the incredible levels of effort and skill on show, with visiting teams including Newbridge Sarsfields; St. Columcilles, Meath; St. Brigid’s, Castleknock; Binn Eadair, Howth and Butlersbridge, Cavan.
Rarely on the fields of underage sport, has so much fun been had, by so many, in so few hours. Thank you to Donal O’Donoghue for making the day happen and the multitude of Coordinators, Coaches and Parents who gave freely of their time to ensure the next generation of Gaelic Football enthusiasts, quite literally, had their day in the sun !
