A’s DEFEAT B’s IN COMPETITIVE JOUST

Body
A beautiful, sunny Spring morning, a large crowd and two skilful squads (and many parents) that parked their friendships for an hour!  These were the ingredients in Silverpark this morning for a most competitive and intriguing fixture between our top two Football teams.  The event posed a challenge for the most ardent of Kilmacud followers: which team to support? which side of the pitch to base oneself on? how hard to go on the ref? etc etc.  It was great to see so many young faces on view, on both teams, laden with ambition and purpose.  It was also good to see the intent from the off throughout the more illustrious "A" team; no player was going to cede an inch to his opponent, especially with the new manager watching (both squads) closely!  Joe Mooney was having his first and last game of 2012 for Kilmacud - he heads for Australia tomorrow; good luck Joe and keep yourself fit down there!  A highlight for most Crokes folk was the appearance of Darren Magee after his protracted absence through injury, great to see him back.  Looked like he inspired little brother, Johnny, who was in fine fettle and kicked a few points for fun when introduced in the 2nd half.  In the end, the bookies got it right as a game "B"s team were forced to concede defeat on a scoreline of 3-15 to 1-7.  A good morning's work for all concerned but .... not as easy for the victors as the scoreline suggests!  Some pics below provide a flavour of what was on offer ...
