 Féile Peil Na N-Óg

Kilmacud Crokes C Team

Well done to the Kilmacud Crokes C Team who won their Féile football final this morning against Raheny in Parnell Park. A superb performance !

Result:  Kilmacud Crokes C 6-3 Raheny B 3-1

What a fantastic day for the Kilmacud Crokes C team winning the Division 9 Feile in Parnell Park. They won 6 games overall with no defeats over the weekend with each of the 21 boys contributing to this excellent team performance. The result was well deserved with the boys playing against the wind in the1st half, keeping Raheny to only a few scoring opportunities.  With some excellent defending from Louis Murphy and Enna O'Dalaigh. with support from Zac McCarthy in goals, Tiernan O'Connell, Eoin Mc Donagh, Hugh O'Connor, Paraic Lenihan, Sean Dolan,  Alex Hughes, Gareth Casey, Matthew Byrne and Eoin Mahon  limiting Raheny throughout the game.  The midfield of Jack Stapleton and Joe Kelly won their midfield battle and set up numerous attacks with Joe Gaughran finishing some great team play and ended the day with 3-1 from open play. Goals from Sean O'Flynn, Jack Stapleton, Shane Crowley and points from David Mongan and Joe Kelly resulted from neat interplay from Joe Mulhall, Luke Higgins and Sean Farren, in the full forward line. The boys were fully deserving of their win. The lads prepared well and each of them raised their game over the weekend and delivered in Parnell Park. They should be very proud of how they performed and behaved throughout the weekend and they are a credit to themselves, their families and the club. Congratulations to the mentors Eamonn O'Flynn and Paul Higgins and a special thanks to Eoin Farren who kept them hydrated and fed throughout the weekend.

This weekend will be an exciting one for our under 14 Crokes footballers as they take part in the Dublin Football Féile Peil na nÓg tournament over the bank holiday weekend - Saturday May 3rd and Sunday May 4th. Kilmacud Crokes will have three teams competing in the Dublin Féile at the weekend. Should the teams be successful on Saturday in the group stages they will play on Sunday in the semis and final. Participating in the tournament is a big milestone in these young footballers lives. We would encourage you to come out an support all 3 teams. We wish them all the very best and we know they will do themselves and the club proud.

The A team will compete in Division 1 & host the group stage in Silverpark on Saturday. Games are at 10.30, 11.30,12.30.

The B team will compete in Division 4 and will be hosted by Fingallians in Balheary. Games are at 10.30, 11.30,12.30.

The C team will compete in Division 9 and will be hosted by Rounder Towers in Clondalkin. Games are at 10.00, 10.50, 11.40, 1.30, 2.15.

The teams have prepared very well. We have had fantastic support from the parents through fund raising which plays such a large part of the Féile program which all began in last December.

Events were extremely well supported and included

•         Bag packing @ Tesco in Dundrum shopping centre and Dunnes Stores at the Beacon

•          'Nit and Bitch' night

•         Bingo night at the club

•         Quiz Night with MC Jimmy Magee

All the boys have been fitted and kitted out in their new Féile gear. Last week the boys received Kilmacud Crokes Track Suit, T-shirts and Kit bags.

The Féile 2014  gear has been embossed with the boys personal initials and club logo.

The club logo has a lily symbol in the top half which is complemented by a sleeved arm representing  'victory in tournament',  an excellent symbol for us in our Féile tournaments.

The open red hand on the bottom half of the club logo is a symbol of Ulster and originates from the Benburbs Gaa Club, which was from around the Clonskeagh area. Benburbs joined up with 'Crokes in the early 70's.

Crokes has a great tradition of 'victory in tournament' in the Dublin Féile. In 2012, two of our teams won their Dublin finals. Since 2003, Crokes have represented Dublin in the national Féile on six occasions, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2012, winning the nationals in 2003 and 2008.

The fundarising is nearly there, the training is finished – the cold winter evenings in Stepaside are now replaced with a summer feeling to our training in Silverpark.

It has to be Féile time - the boys are committed to being the best that they can be on each day. All in the club wish them well.

Check back again on this page for links, reports and photographs over the weekend.
