First Aid Training for coaches & volunteers

See below from DLR Co. Council regarding a Sports First Aid course on the 30th of May 09. This course will be run from 10.00am until 5.00pm in the Function room of Glenalbyn House, Stillorgan.

Lunch will be provided.

On completion of this course, participants will be certified in emergency response training and be able to provide necessary first aid while awaiting the arrival of the emergency services. First Aid is an essential skill to have particularly when you are dealing with physical or sporting activities.

The course will cover the following areas in First Aid: 

  • Accident scene management
  • Patient assessment
  • Respiratory emergencies
  • Cardiac response and defibrillation
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Head injuries and unconsciousness
  • Fractures and injury to bones
  • Burns, scalds and electric shock 

There will be a maximum of 14 participants and places must be booked and paid for in advance. The cost for this one-day course is €20 per person (heavily subsidised by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership) and participants must be over 18 years of age.
