Great Night for Crokes Coaches with Pat OShea

Genial Kerryman, Pat O'Shea was guest of honour at our special night for football coaches in the club last Friday.  The huge turnout were enthralled by his stimulating talk which bore all the hallmarks of a man who's done it all and knows what he's talking about.  He covered a lot of the ground that young coaches have to travel and challenged them with introspective questions such as:

  • which drives you most: the pain of losing or the love of victory?
  • can you look 'the man in the glass' straight in the eye?
  • what are the two main characteristics of a successful team?
  • can coaching very young children come anyway close to managing an All-Ireland winning team? etc

It was really great to have Pat with us and the various management teams were keen to discuss their team's issues with him as he mingled comfortably among them.  The great work of Paraic McDonald and the coaching committee was highlighted with the results clear for all to see.
