A history of Kilmacud Crokes Published

Body
Peter Sobolewskis history of the Clubs first 50 years, from 1959 to 2009, was launched on Monday evening in Glenalbyn before a large attendance and some very special guests (see photos below .. courtesy of Dáire Brennan).

The book is now on sale from the Club Office for €20 - excellent value for a 360 page hardback. It will also be on sale in the Club Shop when it reopens in September. Congrats Peter on completing this excellent project after years of diligent effort!

The publishers, Orpen Press, have this to say (see here):
Few supporters of Gaelic games were found in Stillorgan and Kilmacud during the first half of the twentieth century. This all changed when Fr Robert Walsh founded Kilmacud GAA Club on 12 March 1959.An amalgamation with Crokes H. C. eventually led to the name we now associate with the club - Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club.

From very humble beginnings, Kilmacud Crokes has grown to become one of the largest clubs in the country and holds its own proudly with the likes of Crossmaglen, St. Vincents, Tuam Stars, Glen Rovers and Crokes of Kilkenny. Down through the years most young people living in the area have donned the purple and yellow jersey of Crokes and have helped the club achieve its present status.

This book is a testament to all who have contributed to its growth. It outlines the main developments in the club over its first 50 years, profiles some of the men and women who led these developments and highlights memorable moments on the field of play.

This book is a must for anybody who was or is involved in Kilmacud Crokes.
