INAUGURAL PURPLE AND GOLD TOURNAMENT A MAJOR SUCCESS

The colours purple and gold have a special place in the hearts of both Wexford and Dublin (Kilmacud Crokes) GAA folk. The inaugural Purple and Gold intercounty Golf Tournament in Druids Glen today was fitting recognition of this. What a fantastic event it proved to be, played in brilliant sunshine on a majestic course.  Over 80 keen golfers from Taghmon and Kilmacud competed in Ryder Cup fashion for the perpetual PGT cup.   Pauric "Monty" McMenamin headed the Dublin squad while former Crokes man, Tony Kelly, led the Wexford men who must have felt the omens were in their favour on passing the 1798 Pikeman en-route to the first tee!!
After a very long day, all concerned retired to Stillorgan for the presentation dinner and, no doubt, lengthy analysis of the big Wexford / Dubs game in Croker tomorrow!
