Inters through to Champ Final

Congratulations to a fabulous Intermediate squad and management on their thrilling win today over a gallant St Brigids. After more than 200 minutes of very competitive fare, our boys edged past their Castlenock arch rivals at the 3rd time of asking and in real style!

After conceding a goal from a penalty within the first few minutes it looked like it might not be our day. However, the character, skill, fitness and mental strength of this team became very evident as they proceeded to take control and lead by a point at half time.

The introduction of Gareth Fox and Ronan Ryan for the 2nd half added real impetus to a team already playing expressive, no-nonsense football. With two Fox's now on the field how could we lose? The lead stretched to 3 points and it could have been more had 2 gilt-edged goal chances not been spurned.  Brigids had no intention of bowing out tamely and kept 'the Fat Lady' from singing with a well-taken, opportunist goal mid-way through the half. It was anybody's game at this stage.

From here to the final whistle Crokes showed their mettle and stepped on the gas. A wonder point from a free well outside the 45m line was Gareth's declaration of intent - others rowed in with some delicious scores and there was no doubt about the merit of the win when the final whistle sounded.

A lot of players came of age for Crokes today in an excellent team performance; their fitness and discipline was noteable in another physically demanding encounter. Great credit goes to both teams and management on the superb fare served up in the past 11 days.

Crokes now march on to meet Templeogue Synge Street in the final on Sunday next. Make sure you reserve a slot in the diary (around 2.30pm tbc). Although the more experienced TSS will be many people's favourites this Crokes team are improving with every outing an, on recent evidence, the word 'defeat' has no place in its dictionary!!
