Kilmacud Crokes Win AFL5

Body
Kilmacud Crokes Win AFL5In a dramatic season finale, it was in the board rooms of Parnell Park, rather than on the sodden fields of Glenalbyn that this year\'s AFL5 title was decided when the Dublin County Board awarded the points to Kilmacud Crokes for their match with St. Pat\'s, Donabate. The match in question was scheduled to take place twice before Christmas, but did not go ahead on both occasions. This decision by the Dublin County Board, which can not have been taken lightly, effectively handed Kilmacud Crokes the point that they needed to secure promotion and more importantly a first Junior 1 League title since 1981. This caps off a remarkable year for this team that has seen them reach a Championship semi-final and also a Conlon Cup final. The final manner of the league win can take nothing away from a group of lads who attended 160 get togethers since 29 January 2008 and only lost 3 matches in 27 competitive outings. While it was a tremendous year on the field, it did have it\'s low points off it and the management and the lads would like to express their sincere thanks to Gerry Collins for getting the show on the road in the first place and also to wish him a speedy recovery. While they acknowledge that it is hard to thank everyone involved in a year\'s work, the management team of Marcus Ó Buachalla, Joe Caffrey, Declan Collins and Pádraig Mawe would like to thank the following people and organisations for helping out at various stages throughout the year and for making it all possible:- Pat Lamb, Daphne Lamb, Martin Glynn, Sean Fox, Dr. Pat Duggan, Cyril Loughlin, Marc Duncan, Peter Ward, Paddy O\'Donoghue, Daragh Doyle, Mark Peacock, Pauraic McDonald, Pete Taylor & all at Bray Boxing Club, Dom Twomey, Sean O\'Neill & all at Clonkeen College, Padraig MacDonnachadha & all at Coláiste Eoin, Nuala Collins, Conor Deegan, John Fogarty, the office and bar staff in Glenalbyn House, Vinnie Patterson and to all our family, friends and fellow club members who supported us in such numbers throughout the year. The management team would also like to put on record their appreciation for the efforts of all the players on the core panel of 1-29, for everything they have given this year. At the end of the day, it is their moment and it is to them that all the plaudits must go. A final thanks to the players that helped out when numbers were down during the Summer. It could not have been done without each and every one of them chipping in when needed. The players that contributed in one way or another to the year\'s success are as folllows:- Brian Mahon, Mark Kielty, James Farrell, Derek Corcoran, Ruairi Lamb, Barraí Brennan, Shane Harte, Des McCormack, Chris Carolan, John O Callaghan (capt.), Stephen Collins, Robert Behan, Robbie Kavanagh, Stephen Russell, Naoise Ó Conchubhair, Fergal McGrath, Cuán Ó Flatharta, Conor Mulvihill, Andrew Hopkins, Declan Sheeran, Adam Shanley, Eoin Fitzgerald, Peter Ward, David Higgins, Pauraic McDonald, Jim Fitzgerald, Brian Hanratty, Mícheál Mulvey, Michael Moore, Diarmuid Howley, Alan O\'Donovan, Kevin Brett, Barry Kelly, Liam Dockery, Sean Gallagher, Ciaran Leavey, Donal Hogan, Brian Davoren, Stephen Williams, Ciaran O\'Grady, Ciaran McCormack, David Kehoe, John Mahon, Cillian Caffrey, Darragh McGale and Nealie Murphy.
