U12 Footballers - Winning finish to the season !

Crokes U12 Footballers finished their season off in style !

Crokes U12 footballers (2004s) finished their season off on Saunday last in the St Sylvesters 15 a-side tournament in Bridgefield.

They were in a tough group with the undefeated U12 Div 1 champions and hosts St Sylvesters as well as a strong Ratoath team. We have had great games over the years.

In our 1st game we overcame Syls on a scoreline of 3-4 to 1-6. After playing with a strong wind in the 1st half we went in level but the lads kept something in reserve and finished up much the stronger side.

Straight into our second game we wrapped the group up with an good performance against Ratoath 3-6 to 2-2 with Fionn Boyd making a great penalty save.

This left us as group winners and a well needed break before the semi finals.
We played and proved far too strong for old foes St Judes in the semi final on a scoreline of 2-9 to 0-2 having led 0-7 to 0-0 at h/t.
In the final we renewed acquaintances against St Sylvesters again which was not a surprise as they are a very good side,
In a great final with both teams tiring Syls went in 0-2 to 0-0 ahead at h/t..
Our lads roared back into the game in the second half and after twice hitting the post with goalbound shots, a superb Tom Doran goal was the decisive score to bring us home 1-4 to 0-3.
Captain for the day Paddy Keys raised the cup to much jubilation.
