Where's the Match?
This is a familiar phrase in many Dublin clubs on match day with people wondering how to get to clubs. To make life more interesting many clubs have alternative pitches, which can be some distance from the clubhouse itself. The need for clear directions to clubs and pitches was apparent.
Three Transition Year students from Loreto College Swords decided to undertake the task as an element of their Gaisce Award. With the guidance of their club, Fingallians, they located all Dublin GAA Clubs and compiled directions to all their playing grounds. Starting as a guide book for their own club, they soon found out that many other clubs were enthusiastic about the project. Thus Where's the Match? came about in association with the Evening Herald.
The directions in the book are designed for travelling to any club in Dublin. All directions are given from the nearest junction on the M50 and bring you to the clubhouse, with a map to pinpoint the venue. Alternative pitches used by each club are also detailed. Satellite Navigation (Sat Nav) co-ordinates are included for each venue.
