The 39th Copper Face Jacks Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland Hurling Sevens was launched in Croke Park on Monday 29th August 2011.

Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Dublin mentor and Tipperary man, Richard Stakelum, former Kilkenny great John Henderson and three of Dublin’s outstanding 2011 hurlers, Niall Corcoran, Liam Rushe and Ryan O’Dwyer.  Also in attendance were Andy Kettle, chairman, Dublin County Board and John Costello, chief executive, as well as the Kilmacud Crokes representatives on the Dublin under 21 and minor hurling squads.

On behalf of new sponsors for the Sevens, Copper Face Jacks, Aidan McCormack expressed his delight to be associated with such a landmark event in the national GAA calendar.

Kilmacud Crokes Hurling chairman, Tom Barry, said

“We are eagerly looking forward to another great feast of hurling in Stillorgan on Saturday 3rd September with many marquee names and a great crowd expected.  I would particularly like to thank our sponsor Copper Facer Jacks.  The venue is one of the country’s leading night spots and strongly associated with the GAA.  Long may it grow and prosper. Hosting the Sevens provides Kilmacud Crokes with a wonderful opportunity to showcase the best hurling talent in the country competing for an All-Ireland title.  This forms an important part of our ongoing effort to promote hurling in the club and locality.  Over recent years a huge effort has been put in at under age level marked by much recent underage, including the 2005 All-Ireland Feile na nOg and the fact we have steadily increasing numbers on all Dublin teams.

The chairman added

“I would like to record our thanks to Tom Rock and his team on the Copper Face Jacks Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland Hurling 7’s workgroup.  Events of this magnitude don’t just happen.  They require much planning and seriously committed groundwork encompassing team entries, dealing with the media, grounds preparation and much more.  The professionalism with which today’s gathering has been organised is an excellent indicator and I can guarantee you the tournament itself will be just as smoothly run.  A great hurling day lies in store.”
