The Senior Hurlers took the honours with a brace of goals against a tenacious Na Fianna team

With several regulars absent due to Senior and U21 Inter county duties, it was an opportunity for some new faces on the Crokes team, chief among them Paul Galvin - winner of four All Ireland championships with Kerry (in the other code!). Crokes were out of the blocks early, raising the white flag four times before the hosts registered their first score. Two well taken goals, one by Barry O'Rorke, the other by Barry Horan, stretched the visitors' lead even more. However, Na Fianna contiinued to pop over the points and finally hit the net just before the short whistle. first half half ended 2-07 to 1-06 in favour of Crokes.

After the break Na Fianna started the brighter, with four points, to draw level. From then until the 50th minute both teams traded points, with neither side gaining a significant advantage. However, a surging run by Barry Horan set up Caolan Conway for a vital goal, allowing Crokes to  pull ahead again, finishing up winners by 3 points.
