We were delighted to welcome Sarsfields Hurling Club from Perth, Australia to the Beacon Hospital All-Ireland Hurling 7s.

The team travelled almost 15,000km to take part in the Shield tournament, which is open to teams from non-traditional hurling counties and countries.

Sarsfields won their first game over their hosts, Kilmacud Crokes, 8.5 to 7.3. They continued their high scoring form into their second team, where they beat Naomh Moninne of Louth, 10.4 to 3.3. Unfortunately, they lost out to St. Patricks of Wicklow, 3.1 to 7.12, which proved detrimental to their score difference which meant Sarsfeilds missed out on progression to the knockout stages.

We would all like to thank Sarsfields for their great enthusiasm and commitment they showed at the Beacon Hospital All-Ireland Hurling 7s event. We hope to seem them line out again in Kilmacud in the future.
