Crokes Minor A's off to flyer against Cuala

The 2012 Minor Hurling league commenced with a local derby against Cuala at a sunny Páirc De Burca. Both sides were missing a number of players, due to their exertions with Coláiste Eoin in Navan on Satuday.

Crokes were first to score, with a free from Mark O'Loughlin. Exchanges were good and physical but we pulled ahead with points from Caolán and Matthew. Our half back line of the two Cians and Odhrán were dominating and with Oisín and Matthew winning loose ball in the middle, our forwards had plenty of ball coming in. After 20 minutes Barry Horan broke a dropping ball to Conor O'Dwyer, who fed Mark O'Loughlin to score a fine goal from close range. Caolán and Conor O'Dwyer added further points, to leave the half time score Crokes 1-08, Cuala 0-02.

Cuala drove hard at us in the second half, with their county men to the fore with a number of points, but we pushed on, with fine points from Oisín, Matthew, Caolán and Cian McGabhann. Donal Keane put over a lovely point near the end, followed by another from Neil Gorey. Cuala went for goal but were repelled by Mikey Herlihy, Andy Colclough and James Murphy, ably assisted by Mikey O'Dwyer, who replaced Conor Devins at half time.

 

Oisin O'Rorke had the last point, to leave the final score Crokes 1-15, Cuala 0-06.
