Disappointment for Seniors v Vincents

Our Seniors had an unsuccessful start to the league when they were beaten by 6 points in a competitive league game last Saturday. The final scoreline did not reflect the closeness of a game in which Crokes led for long periods. Good early pressure yielded points from Brian Motherway, Donal McGovern, James Burke and a few long range frees from Daibhi DePaor and saw Crokes lead by 8 points to 3 at half-time.

An couple of early points and a goal from a deflected free brought Vincents level within 5 minutes of the restart. This was effectively where the game was lost. The sides trade points (from Garvey, Roche, Motherway and De Paor for Crokes) in a tight next 15 minutes and with 10 minutes left the sides were still level. Vincents pegged on 3 further points and scored their second goal in the final play of the game to run out victors by 6 points.
