Dublin lose out in Leinster Intermediate Semi

Dublin intermediate hurlers were narrowly beaten by current holders, Kilkenny, in the Leinster intermediate hurling semi-final played in Nowlan Park on Wednesday 24th June 2009 on a score of 1-13 to 0-13. Ross O'Carroll made a welcome return to competitive action at wing forward after recovering from a recent injury and contributed three points.

Paul Garbutt helped Dublin to a two point lead on 15 minutes and further points from Barry O’Rorke, Kilmacud Crokes second representative on the starting 15, and Mick May put the Dubs into the lead by two points at half time, 0-8 to 0-6. A fine score from O 'Carroll on the resumption and a Paul Garbutt free stretched the lead to four points early in the second half.

Kilkenny levelled the game with ten minutes remaining and in the final three minutes of the game two points for Joe Farrell and a point from substitute Eddie Hickey saw the 'Cats' through to the provincial final.
