Fate?

When St Kieran's College Kilkenny met St Flannan's of Ennis on 18th April 1999 in the All-Ireland Colleges Senior Hurling Final at Croke Park they were captained by current Crokes senior midfielder Hugh Gannon.  On the Flannan's panel that day was Crokes full-back Declan Walsh.

On the same day at the same venue St Jarlath's of Tuam met Good Counsel from New Ross in the senior footbal decider with Crokes Junior hurler Barry Everett on the St Jarlath's panel.
