U10 (2003) vs Naomh Eanna Match Report – 19 May 2013

Our U10 (2003) hurlers took a trip down the road to Gorey on 19th May 2013 where we were kindly hosted by Naomh Eanna once again. We had been down there about a year ago and had come away with one win and one loss so we were hoping to go one better this time.

We put out two teams:

Match 1

Kilmacud Team: Chris McCann, Darragh Harrison, Darragh Geraghty, Luke Ward, Conor Hughes, Jack Power, Jordan Mynes, Colm Crean. Euan Lacey, Darren Crowley and Kieran Maguire.

In the first half our lads started much faster than our hosts and finished out that half with a number of scores including goals and points without allowing Naomh Eanna to really get into their game. The second half was similar although Naomh Eanna clearly lifted their game to present a much tougher challenge. On the Kilmacud side, our mentors were particularly impressed to see our boys starting to pick their passes and use each other as a team. By the end of the second half, we ran out comfortable winners.

Match 2

Crokes Team: Daniel Nolan, Mark O'Reilly, Sean Purcell, Brendan O'Connell, Sean Harty, Mark McHugh, Gavin Kirwan, Alex Brophy, Oisin Farrington, Eric McMahon, Sam McMahon

In this match too, our lads were much faster to get into the game and as with our other team, we managed to put away a few goals and a few points to no score at half time. Similarly though, the second half represented a much stiffer challenge with Naomh Eanna getting a good few scores as they started to hit their stride. Still our lads were equal to the challenge and managed to outscore them in the second half also. Most impressive in this match was the overall work-rate of our players as they ran hard to chase down every ball and get to it first. This work rate paid handsome dividends as our team finished with a decent margin over our hosts.

After the matches we were once again treated really well by Naomh Eanna with sausages and chips for all as well as sandwiches, tea and coffee. Truly we couldn’t have asked for better hospitality and we’ll have our work cut out for us later in the year when we hope to host them up in Dublin to return the fixture. Our thanks to everyone involved both on the pitch and in the kitchen for making this a memorable day out for our lads.
