Intermediates lose out to Good Counsel

Body

An understrength Crokes side took on Good Counsel  away. The highlight for Crokes was the Crokes man of the match Aidan McCarthy playing in his first game for Crokes and the first time we have seen Richie Sweetman in goal for a long time. Many thanks to some of the clubs stallwards, Paddy McCormack and Joe O Reilly with Diarmuid Howley out of his sick bed to play at full forward. Paddy and Joe were particularly solid in the back line, O Reilly at centre back displayed some lovely stick work. Hugh O Connor played again at full back and made sure that Counsels forwards had to go the very long way around before heading for goal. It was also the first time for Wayne Jenkins after being away for a number of years from the game, well done Wayne. A determined Fergus Monnelly was again very stong in the backs showing some good leadership qualities.

But the Crokes man of the match today was the new man Aidan McCarthy who got stuck in from the word go and showed great grit and determination.  A midfield of Richie Power and Ronan Walsh worked hard and once again Richie popped up to get valuable scores at difficult times thanks to the space created by Diarmuid Howley whose strength at full foward created great problems.

Well done Damien McSweeney at centre forward who was marking Counsels best player.Apologies Oran Turley whose alarm did not go off and Mark Peacock who never made it.
