Junior B Semi Final Replay disappointment

Body

The gods were not with the Crokes Junior B’s in the replayed Junior B championship semi final at O’Toole Park on Sunday 15 October 2006.  The game was of a very high standard for the grade with class displayed in abundance.

Having been on top for much of the game the Kilmacud team led by a single point five minutes into injury time and looked to have the game won only to concede a free which a grateful Scoil Ui Chonaill put over to level.  Valiantly as Crokes fought they were not able to contain a younger northside team and eventually went down 3-16 to 2-15.  This was hard luck on this group of players who have now seen two county final and a semi final pass them by without reward over the last three years.  Many congratulations to them and to their management team of Brian Murphy, Donal Hayes, Pat Kennedy and Vincent O’Farrell as well as Tom Bohan.

Early on it looked like Scoil would run away with the game as they raced into a six point lead.  At half time they were still four clear but a great comeback seemed to have put Crokes in the driving seat until the referee’s last minute intervention.   While each of the Crokes players is to be highly complimented for a very fine team display, all through Michael Garvey shone for Kilmacud.  He was ably assisted by Darragh Lyndon, Paul Ryan, Gavin Hyland, Muiris Loughane, Ciaran McGrath and outstanding centre back James Byrne
