The Junior C’s suffered a defeat in their opening championship fixture at home to St Vincents in Silverpark last Saturday evening.

There is a process underway of rebuilding the squad from last season which was evident on the night with nine new players involved in the squad from last season with a handful of minors making their debut at adult hurling stage. We battled well in the first half and were only down by a point at half time playing into a breeze. We had started well, however the turning point came when the ref chose to play advantage instead of awarding a straight forward free, we lost possession and Vincents went down the field to score a goal. After that we were chasing the rest of the half to get level.

After the break, Vincents experience and physical nature turned the game in their favour and they quickly rattled off a few fine points which gave them the breathing space they needed for the rest of the game. We traded points towards the end, but the goals would not come and we ended up losing by six points.
