Venue Portmarnock

The Junior A team played Naomh Mearnóg on Sunday, 8 July 2012, in Portmarnock in the league. It was a depleted team, due to holidays and injury, and Crokes travelled with the a very young team, but some experienced subs.

Playing against the breeze in the first half Crokes settled in quickly, with a goal from MacDara, following good work by Paddy Rath and Shane. Mikey added a point straight after, before the hosts opened their account. With Jonathan tapping over the frees we were pulling ahead. Then Mikey was set up by Fionnan and Cathal for our second goal. Mearnógs came looking for a goal, but Paddy Tighe and Oisin combined to make a double save, to keep the goal line intact. With Karl, Eoin and James on top in the half backs, Mearnóg were struggling to make an impression up front. Fionnan was set up by Conor O'Dwyer for a lovely point, to end the first half with Crokes leading by 2-06 to 0 -02.

The second half was played in a constant drizzle, but Crokes kept on top of things. Paddy Tighe scored a long range free to open our second half account and this was followed by another from Paddy Rath, who had to be replaced by Peter Walsh, due to injury. Fionnan and Jonathan tapped over a few frees, before Karl closed our scoring, with a point from 90 yards. This left the final score Kilmacud Crokes 2-13, Naomh Mearnog 0-03.
