Kilmacud Crokes Hurling – Appeal for Support

Attached is a letter and pack from the hurling and football chairpersons going to club members in connection with a club EGM to be held on 11th February next at 9pm

The EGM has been called to consider two motions to approve and give constitutional effect to an Agreement reached between the Hurling Section and the Football Section and which was approved by the club executive on 28th January 2010 as to the make up and functioning of the club executive.  These proposals emerged from a joint football/hurling work group that has been working intensively for a number of months

On behalf of the Hurling Section I appeal to club members to come to the EGM and support the motions as put.  I also ask you to encourage other eligible members to do the same.

The agreement offers a great opportunity for Hurling and Football to put the past behind them and work together to make real progress on a number of fronts.  These include

  1. immediately undertaking the necessary remedial work required with the Silverpark dressing rooms,
  2. drawing up a comprehensive and funding plan to ensure we address the current deficit and develop the physical resources, grounds and facilities Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club needs to cater for all our players in all the sporting codes of the club and
  3. devising a long term plan for Executive Committee financing.

The ten man cabinet like method of operation will be more efficient and streamlined.  Other advantages are that Camogie and Ladies Football will have a representation more than equivalent to their proportionate membership.  Representation for juvenile Hurling and Football will also increase from one to two and anyone who wishes can still nominate any person he or she likes for any executive position.

To be entitled to vote it will be necessary to have paid your 2010 club membership.  This can be done by phoning 2880857 or 2886245 (10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm Tuesday to Friday), by post to Glenalbyn House, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin or by calling in person to Glenalbyn House.  Details of the charges and form can be downloaded from http://www.glenalbyn.ie/NEW_MEMBERS_APPLICATION_FORM.pdf

Many thanks

Tom Barry
