Leinster 3-in-a-row for Colaiste Eoin !
Coláiste Eon beat Heywood of Laois in Dr Cullen Park (Carlow) on Friday 14 May 2010, to achieve a remarkable 3-in-a-row Leinster Schools Juvenile B Title. This follows on from the third consecutive Dublin Juvenile Title won by the Booterstown team.
It didn't look too promising only a few minutes into the game, as the Laois team raced into a 6 point lead, scoring a goal and three points without reply. Colaiste Eoin were slow to get going and at times looked in danger of being left behind. However, some well taken frees by Com O Néill kept them in touch and at the break the deficit was only three points, Heywood finishing 2-04 to 0-07 ahead.
The resumption saw a remarkable transformation in the dynamics of the game, as Coláiste Eoin upped a couple of gears and engineered the most dramatic of comebacks. Two goals by Con O Ceallachain and further points by the excellent O'Neill went unanswered. It was the middle of the second half, by which stage Coláiste Eoin were leading 6 points, before Heywood pointed again. Heywood quickly followed with a goal. However, further points by O'Neill, (who scored a total of 0-09, inc. 8 frees), Dara O Gallchobhair (0-02), Iarla McGathain (0-02), Con O'Ceallachain (2-02) and Rian Mac Giolla Bhride ensured the South Dublin team ran out winners by 2-16 to 3-07 to claim the trophy.
