Minor A’s secure another win

The Minor A's travelled to Cloghran on Sunday 21 April to take on Whitehall Colmcilles in the league.

The minor A’s continued their good run of form in Division One with a convincing win over Whitehall-Colmcille after an early morning start in Cloghran on Sunday. The opening exchanges were closely contested and it looked like Whitehall would pose a real threat after intense pressure orchestrated by their county minors saw them go into a 1-01 to 0-01 lead after five minutes. Crokes gradually settled however and a great Seán Keating goal after a blistering run had them right back in the game. They continued to build on this momentum and with good scores from Cian Mac Gabhann and further goals from Ed Campion, Dara Ó Gallchobhair and Dónal Keane Crokes went into a half-time lead of 4-07 to 1-03.

Crokes faced into a strong breeze in the second half but this didn’t seem to unduly worry them and Paul Comerford struck for a great goal just after the restart after some great support work by Mark Macallion and Dónal Keane. Whitehall piled on the pressure after this but the backs defended stoutly with Odhrán Ó Siochrú particularly prominent and Tadhg Murphy in great form in goal. The game gradually petered out as a contest and Crokes maintained their unbeaten record on a scoreline of 5-11 against 1-05.

Next up is Naomh Fionnbarra at home in a forthnight and the lads willl be hoping to continue their winning form but know that there are a number of aspects of their play that still need further work.
