The minor A hurlers recorded a satisfying 5-15 to 2-11 win in a potentially tricky encounter against Fingallians on Sunday.

With several regulars absent Cathal Keane, in an unfamiliar full forward position, settled any nerves with a well taken goal after 5 minutes and Ben Rafter did likewise 3 minutes later after some fine work by Adam Tuck. The other main features of the first half were a huge point from Conor O'Dwyer and the composure shown by a defence anchored by Stephen McEntee and Eoin Sheehy. Crokes led by those 2 goals (2-6 to 0-6) at half time with the benefit of the breeze to come.

A quick start to the 2nd half ended the threat of a Fingallians comeback. Michael Roche popped over a couple of nice points, Johnny Maher penalised any Fingallians transgressions with unerring accuracy from placed balls and when O'Dwyer goaled after 15 minutes the game was over as a contest. Roche and Keane netted again before Fingallians pulled back 2 late goals. Others to perform well were David Dagg, who's speed and agression snuffed out every possible threat from the opposition forwards, Conor McNicholas who blocked hooked and swept up effortlessly, and Cian Ryan, who's workrate was an example to all. Young Tom Kehoe also showed he is well able to compete at this level.
